Applied insect ecology and management of vegetable insect pests

Welcome to the Nault Lab

Our research focuses on understanding the biology and ecology of insects that attack vegetable crops and evaluating approaches to manage them. Major projects have included describing spatial and temporal patterns of insect dispersal in agricultural landscapes and investigating epidemiology of insect-transmitted pathogens in vegetable cropping systems. Other projects have evaluated traditional and novel pest management strategies including chemical control, cultural control, biological control and host plant resistance. We work closely with vegetable growers and industry stakeholders to share the information generated from our research to predict pest outbreaks, mitigate the spread of insect-transmitted viruses, develop insecticide resistance management strategies, and manage pests using practical, economical and environmentally responsible strategiesCorn Evaluation
