Lidia Komondy, a recent PhD graduate from the Nault lab, and Leo Salgado, PhD candidate, presented posters at the XXVII International Congress of Entomology in Kyoto, Japan in August 2024.

Lidia presented on the development of a sequential sampling plan for surveilling onion thrips in onion to reduce sampling effort involved in management decision-making. Leo presented on performance of insecticide seed treatments for onion maggot (Delia antiqua) and seedcorn maggot (Delia platura) and proportions of each Delia spp. in four production regions across North America (California, New York, Ontario and Washington). Also in attendance was former Nault lab technician Nate Hesler. Lidia called the meeting “a great opportunity to learn more about the ongoing applied entomology programs in Japan” and noted that it was valuable to “hear from other international colleagues.”
