Nault Lab members Katherine Poulos and Leonardo (Leo) Salgado proudly joined this year’s Fun on the Farm event as part of the Cornell AgriTech volunteer delegation, contributing to the event’s huge success. Fun on the Farm is an educational open house held at a dairy farm in Ontario County every other September. The event is free, open to the public and is targeted to engage the general public and especially children with agriculture. This year’s event, powered by 450 volunteers from across the agriculture industry, welcomed 1,500 students for an exciting educational experience! Highlights included interactive booths from the New York Animal Agriculture Coalition, Master Gardeners, local veterinarians, and the crowd favorite: a birthing tent, where two Hemdale cows delighted the audience. Katherine and Leo contributed an opportunity for kids to learn about entomology through demonstrations with Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Fun on the Farm 2024 was a true celebration of agriculture, bringing the community together to appreciate the industry’s importance and future.
